CAN-AM MAVERICK SPORT 1000R
I’ll admit I am a fan of the 2nd gen Maverick. I had one for a year and I beat the living snot of it. The maverick Trail 800 is particularly good but, if you like to rip it hard occasionally and drift in corners, the Sport 1000R will keep your smile going all day. The 1000 cc Rotax V-Twin has been around since the Stone Age and it’s not ready to be retired yet. I still consider it one of the best performing ATV engines on the market today. The combined sound of induction and exhaust still wakes up my testosterone levels when I mash the pedal to the floor and make me do things you never thought you would be doing with a sport touring UTV.
Handling is its best quality; the thing is on rails even in the worst winter trails with deep ruts that most can’t get out of. The ultra-long wheelbase and suspension geometry is part of what makes the Maverick Sport so fun to drive. Comfortable, easy to drive hard, fast enough so you can keep up with your friends driving X3s and the likes, The Maverick Sport is the best all rounder in the trail UTV category. With a starting price of $18,599 ($21,899 if you want power steering) it’s not cheap, but the build quality and the performance level it can achieve without breaking a sweat is well worth it.
